Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does Waste Time Living mean?
Waste Time Living is a personal blog to explore creative writing whilst I explore this beautifully chaotic world we live in. I’m teaching myself to slow down and prioritise finding joy in my life, living messily, passionately and purposefully in a world that rewards the opposite. This is simply my way of documenting it all.
2. Why do you focus on chaotic travel instead of curated guides?
I think it’s too easy to write a travel guide and so many people are doing that already – and it doesn’t interest me in the slightest telling people where to go or where not to go. I want to portray travelling for the emotional experience that it is, for the deep conversations with strangers, and moments of revelation. For the connections you form not only to the people you meet but to the places you come to know. Waste Time Living is not about what you can learn about any particular location but what you can learn about yourself and what it means to be alive.
3. What’s your favourite place you’ve ever gotten lost?
I would very happily get lost in Southern France anytime and Eze has got to be my favourite. Beautiful turquoise waters, gorgeous pastries, the french language and the lush hike down from the train station to the beach. What’s not to love?
4. What is your process for editing photos and writing essays?
Both of these processes are still a learning curve for me. My writing, as well as my poetry, often starts as a page of rambling thoughts and feelings and is developed into what you see on this website over weeks of rewrites, tweaking, annoying my friends by asking them to read it through and tell me what they think.
For the juicy insight here you can read through my Substack – I use this as my workshop for all the raw writings.
For my photography, I always edit in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. These tools are what I was taught how to use when I took photography at college so they have always been my go to!
5. Do you accept guest contributions and collaborations?
Absolutely! Waste Time Living welcomes any contributions or collaborations that align with my longing to live life to the fullest without the pressure to do so. Whether you’re a writer, photographer or a like-minded wanderer, I’d love to hear from you!
